TFCR Asleep on the Job

This from fellow Texas College Republican Ryan Murphy's blog Backporch Politics (here)

Friends and Colleagues,
As we enter the fifth week of a new semester, the Texas Federation of College Republicans are still lacking a confirmed date for our next SCREC meeting. At this time of year, we should have already held one state-wide meeting this semester and expect that the next one would be held in the next few weeks. Unfortunately, as with everything else about this year, what should be done, isn’t being done.
I spoke with our State Chairman on Friday, a conversation in which he said our next SCREC meeting would be held at the end of February or early March.
That would be great, if we hadn’t been down this road before. TFCR Executive Officers have been told that the next state-wide meeting would be the middle of January, then late January, early February, mid February, late February, and now the last weekend of February or early March.
This is also what happened last semester, when our State Chairman continually pushed meeting dates back further and further, to the point we didn’t have any state-wide meetings. In fact, we haven’t even held an Executive Board meeting since the second week of October.
As the conversation moved forward, I asked if our State Chairman had discussed this with the Chapter Chairman at the University of North Texas, which will host our next state-wide meeting. He had not, but promised that he would. I haven’t heard if their conversation has taken place or not.
We ended the conversation with a reminder that our State Chairman must send out a Call to Order thirty days prior to the scheduled meeting. As of this morning, that has not happened. This means that the earliest a SCREC meeting could be held is March 15th, which happens to be the first weekend of Spring Break for several schools in the TFCR.
If we held our next SCREC meeting on March 15th, it would be our first state-wide meeting since our 2007 State Convention, which was held March 31st, 2007.

With 350 days between meetings, how is the TFCR supposed to function?

Sincerely,
Ryan Patrick Murphy
Vice Chairman of Development & Operations
Texas Federation of College Republicans
